Chris and Ailsa came over for tea last night and that was very pleasant. We had a lamb curry pie and a chicken and leek pie, both from the butchers. We had to have them because Dad and I had a chicken and leek pie during the week which unfortunately I dropped as I was taking it out of the oven. It splattered everywhere. it was just like someone had vomited a whole pie. I was on my hands and knees scraping it back together with both hands when Dad appeared, uttered a heart-rending cry of "nooooooo" and then said we'd have egg with our chips instead. He was so mad and I thought it was so funny but I daren't laugh - it would not have been appropriate, but it was really funny. It was like I was trying to juggle with this damn thing but it got out of control. So we had one last night instead and I wasn't allowed anywhere near it.

Got back from visiting your sister. On Sunday, we hiked the Appalachian trail to Anthony's nose overlooking the Hudson River. It was a very steep climb. Unlike me, Jade and Jack weren't even breathing hard. We brought Shea who loved playing with the 5 other dogs that were there. We ended the evening at their huge firepit.

There were thunderstorms on Monday, so we opted to go bowling. I had the high score!!! Your dad might never bowl again.

I suppose you have heard about the kittens? One came outside my bedroom window on Monday night followed by two more on Tuesday night , I’m sure the first one must have text the other two telling them what a great place our house was so now we have three kittens and one very jealous Willis, who is not at all keen on the new visitors(“Cat ignores owners”, see latest cat monthly). They eat like there is no tomorrow, they seem to like me but only when I have food , why is that? I have had to take out a loan to buy more cat food, Willis is also demanding more stroking time and attention to compensate for keeping the kittens(cat union rules No1015).I have taken some photos of the happy trio and will send you some soon .

We are having the most incredible Indian summer at the moment , it has not rained for at least 5 months and the temperature has been a constant 28c every day since April, very unusual , and very bad for farmers wanting to start sowing their crops it should rain by next Tuesday but the forecast is still for a dry

Season ahead. End of forecast.

How are you doing??

Weird to think your brother is 23… God, where does time go when it passes? I think it deserves a coffin and memorial service ‘cause I’m starting to mourn its passing more and more every day.

Want a fun visual? I had to break into the house and climb through a window this morning. But wait, it gets better. Dad dropped Oliver and I off about 3-miles from the house so early this morning it was still dark when we left (though not when we got home). We ran on the road, but then I decided that today we’d be adventurous and we branched off and went through the Cougar Mountain Reserve. Cool, right? Except it rained last night and there was mud and muck everywhere. We were both covered – I just laughed and said what the hell.

Until I got home and had to climb in a window.

Not wanting to ruin our very expensive paint job on the dining room walls – you guessed it, I had to strip down to my skivvies. Not fun. You see, normally, we remember to leave the garage door open when Dad drops us off on his way to work. This morning we forgot. And Dad was at the airport to catch an early morning flight, so it’s not like he could come back home to let us in.

Oh, well. Now I have a story to tell. Hope you enjoyed it. I’m not quite laughing, yet. I’ll give it a day; I’m sure I’ll come around.

Hey buds –

We spent this past weekend up in Bellingham, Washington on a dog training clinic. It was intense. And, we discovered, Oliver is a very bad dog, indeed. Oh, a lovable little guy – LOVES everyone and everything – but he thinks every molecule of the universe is his. He's willing to share, but it's his. He rules. This is going to be a very hard concept to drill out of him, though he came close to learning it. Every time he got near a male dog, they'd growl, grumble and one went so far to bite him. I, of course, freaked out – but we were to blame. We had to take a doggy time-out. And, they're right, Oliver did go up to him and try to sniff/play – encroached on "his" space. But, jeez. Needless to say, was not the weekend I was expecting.

Maybe there's hope for the future for me and your little girls. When I cared for Jane's cats this past weekend, they greeted me and one was definitely receptive to petting, if not quite purring.

And this afternoon I stopped at Sprainbrook Nursery (for their two for price of one flowering cyclamen) and they have a LARGE short-haired black cat with a bewitching white patch on its throat. He/or she only had eyes for me....not that there were many customers. But we had eye contact and the cat kept coming back for more stroking.

When do you actually switch offices?......if you're too busy, you really don't have to stop to tell me now. Just reporting in on my kitty-progress.

Last Wednesday we had a lot of rain here, and nearly all of it fell while I was walking home from work. I kid you not, there was a bloody thunderstorm about 2 minutes after I got into the middle of nowhere-to-shelter, I was quite scared of the lightening so that took my mind off how DRENCHED I was getting. It took 2 days for my shoes to dry our in the sun which followed. Your father couldn’t stop laughing when he saw me, I looked like I’d just got out of the shower. And then on Sunday it was 38 degrees. So that’s probably why a lot of people here are getting sick as well. Dad’s had a sore throat, a sore neck, his shoulder’s playing up and now he’s got an ear infection and his sinuses are not good – all this since Saturday. Of course you realise that he’s going to live to be 100 while I’ll probably drop dead next week. I think that’s his plan anyway.

Yet, here's that proverbial "but". . .
 
I went to the ABC website to see the trailers of Dirty, Sexy, Money in hopes of seeing the trailer that Matthew saw at the movies.  Didn't see it.  However, while there I saw a commercial for M&Ms Dark – they use the theme song from the TV Show "Adams Family."  And you know what?  The opening song tells us what we're supposed to know, how we're supposed to feel, about this family.  "They're crazy and they're cooky" etc.  Perhaps doing a unique theme song for Dirty Sexy would let the audience know what they're supposed to get and how they're supposed to feel.
 
Yeah, I know.  Dumb.  But in a weird way – it could be kinda cool.  Could help the audiences identify.  And who know, may it could set a trend – instead if ripping off successful old rock songs. . . you'd create your own new one!

Both pairs of jeans were snoozing in your closet -- lower right, as you
suspected. But each pair was included with something else on the same
hanger, so they were probably easy to overlook.

I stretched both pairs out on your bed -- they seem in rather pristine
condition -- except one pair has a tear on each leg (distressingly chic?)
perhaps where you walked on them. They are very long.  I held them up -- and
they'd be VERY long on me, I'd be walking on them.

But now that I look at them -- they still are VERY nice jeans -- and I think
you could truly use them again and enjoy them.  (I still remember that
shopping day we had at Bendel's, when you tried them on and liked them --
and then found an additional pair months later at Century 21.)

Anyhow, would you like me to bring them to MV for you? They fold very flat;
don't think it would pose a space problem for you.

Yesterday I was standing in the kitchen when I saw a magpie go strutting past the sliding door, having a good sticky beak at everything. Then it hopped up on one of the chairs and I was watching Willis (who woke up on one of the other chairs) to make sure she didn't attack the maggie. When the bird hopped to one of the other chairs Willis rushed over to the sliding door, banging on it and her face saying "Let me in there's a great big feathery thing out here with long pointy bits and I'm scared". So I let her in and she pretended to be all cool and calm by turning her back on the door (once she made sure it was shut) and giving herself those little licks that she does when she's pretending to be cool. Poor Willis - the maggie did have an exceptionally pointed beak though. I think she's missing her cuddles from you - Dad and I just don't measure up. And I'm probably not helping matters by showing her pictures of you with other cats.

My first Craigslist sale! A girl from Cambridge came with her friend and a Budget truck to see/buy/take away mattress, box and frame.

You'll love this - last night's bus home was being driven by one of those jerky type drivers and Crazy got off the bus and threw up. It was only a bit but I think she ate some carrots for lunch. Also, she turned round so we could all see the action - gross. I did feel sorry for her though because those jerky type drivers make me feel a bit queasy also. I might have to get the next bus while he's on this shift.

Good morning.  We had an uneventful weekend, spent mostly indoors watching the snow flurries by the fire.  Actually, it melted as it hit the ground, so we don't have snow cover yet.  It is gray and winter like though.

We met Kyle for lunch at Bonfire on Saturday.  He told us about his Halloween costume and parties.  He was someone from Dazed and Confused, a movie I know nothing about, and had a great time.

We went to iHop for breakfast on Sunday.  Their pancakes are certainly more dessert than breakfast.  I did some shopping on Sunday afternoon and got the green vest that Jade liked.

I also watched Made of Honor and the DaVinci code.
